Luxor Regretting Criss Angel Deal?

Criss Angel
Word on the street is that the Luxor Las Vegas is seriously regretting a recent decision to sign illusionist Criss Angel on for a ten year contract. This is no small amount of money as the deal is said to be worth around $100 million.

Having been linked to everyone from Lindsay Lohan to Cameron Diaz, Criss may have the notoriety, but not necessarily the talent needed for the gig.

Criss was signed on to do a magic show called "Believe" that was supposed to be fused with Cirque du Soleil. The media has been less than kind with their reviews and that could spell disaster for the producers.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal said the show, "is a possibly unsalvageable waste of time and a dead end that literally bored some audience members to sleep."

Reps for the show claim that it's a work in progress. They better 'work' it out before the Luxor goes bankrupt.

I went to see this show on October 12, 2008. It is utterly ridiculous. I think that the fact that Criss Angel has paired up with Cirque is a bizarre happening. First of all, he does not fit in with his guyliner and makeup. His rotted jeans, disheveled hair and his potty mouth. The dancers are good. Especially Crimson, she is very talented. The clowns, if you can call them that, are Cirque clowns that are obnoxious and this is par for the course with Cirque so that is understandable. I think the problem remains that the only thing that Angel can do are tricks that require no video enhancements of any kind. For example, straight jacket, that was so lose, even I, myself, could have gotten out of it. And the manhole cover that I could do because I was sitting in the front seat and saw exactly how he did it. His levitation is good, but nothing out of the norm. He relies on pre-recorded video and why of Larry King? I did not understand that. There are a few costume changes that are also on A&E's one episode and his silly baked potato stunt complete with Tesla coil. All in all, it is just plain stupid to think this nonsensical show would last a whole 10 years on the strip when there are other magicians like Dirk Arthur that may not have the name, but definitely the staying power to give a good show. And to add insult to injury, Angel is NOT meeting fans after the show and getting feedback like it has been written. I spoke with employees of Luxor who said he once has since September 26th, which was the opening. Also, people are going around impersonating David Baram, his manager to hold back zealous fans that just love the guy thus disappointing everyone. Maybe they should consider the economy and the problems this country is having economically. It takes money to fly there, money for hotel and money to see the show. I say, let's show the fans some respect and kiss alittle butt if we want this show to last.

I saw the show on October 5th and I thought it fantastic! No it wasn't perfect and Criss even came out on stage after the show thanked everyone for coming and supporting him, and said it was a "work in progress." But still there were many many wonderful parts tothe show. Crimson and Kayala were amazing in the roles as his Lover (Kayala) and as the Jaded evil one trying to get back at Criss (Crimson). The fantasy and dream scenes were beautiful. The dancing and costumes were truly amazing, and the humor from the clowns added a light hearted innocence to the dark imagery of the storyline. I highly reccomend that everyone go and see it for themselves! Oh and Criss does meet people after the show, you just have to be out there. He is very nice and will stop and talk to you.

Criss IS NOT GAY! Criss Angel is a bad boy. Meaning that he likes to party with party girls, many times multiple women at one time. Criss Angel IS a major player. Get your facts straight.

VanillaSky, I am so sorry that happened to you. I had the complete opposite experience. We were at the bar outside the theatre and I went in to the Believe store to buy a shirt, I came out and saw Costa. I talked to him for a few seconds and told him how I enjoyed the show, ane he said "turn around" I did and Criss was walking our way. I went right up to him and told him how Ienjoyed the show, he seemed very appreciative and asked me if I wanted a hug. So of course I said YES! and then he thanked me for coming to the show and I thanked him for the hug, and I went on my merry way. Very short moment, but very sweet! And he must have said thank you several times. Sorry you had a bad experience.
