Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting

Events

The holidays is the best time to be in the Big Apple. Last night was the 75th anniversary of the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony. Stars such as Ashley Tisdale, Nick Lachey and Carrie Underwood came out to see the 30,000 energy efficient lights that brightened the tree.

The Rockettes also took the stage and proved that after three quarters of a century they are still kicking. You can find these girls at the Radio City Music Hall performing 4 shows a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. In celebration of 75 years, the girls are spicing things up with new costumes and “Spectacular” steps. Now that will keep anyone in the city warm for the holidays.

Why would Celine Dion sing a non-Christmas song in a strange setting (not like all the others outside), and what was with the Taylor Swifts' butchered job of "Silent Night"!?!

I think the Celine Dion segment was filmed at a different time, perhaps when she was in NYC the week before. (After all, she sang LIVE on Dancing with the Stars the night before. Not likely she'd fly all the way back to NYC.) Plus, she was lip synching. I agree about Silent Night as well...didn't like it...happened to be in Rockefeller Center during the day when she was rehearsing, and she sang a much better song during rehearsal. Too bad she didn't sing it on the show. www.ithappenedinplainfield.com

I thought that version of "Silent Night" was a very refreshing spin on a classic.
