Manhattan Beach is known for a few things--beach volleyball, beach bike cruisers, and the "90210" beach house. But the place everyone's buzzing about these days is Shade, a boutique hotel right in the heart of the town.
Although it is a little on the fancy side for locals who are more familiar with flip flops and draught beer than Louboutins and martinis, lately Shade has attracting the likes of Bruce Willis, Matthew Fox, and Shia LaBiouf.
Correction: Shia didn't actually stay. He was turned away from a private wine tasting and had to take his celebrity status down the street to sports bar Sharks Cove. Celeb watching or not, if you want a sophisticated LA scene without leaving the beach, take a seat at Zinc, the bar, and check out the cougars, who are always present there.
